In some ways I’m liking her better in the series because they softened her up a little (this isn’t a slam on aro rep, bear with me). I haven’t reached that part of the book yet, so we’ll see if it gets clarified (and whether the show was just playing it ‘het-safe’ □), but so far the book portrays Beth as even less physically/emotionally involved with others: not just potential romantic partners, but friends and family as well. …And then that was never brought up in any sort of way again. But then when Beth woke up the next morning and Cleo was in her bed I thought, A HA. I was getting distinct vibes from Cleo and when she suggested they approach the men at the bar together I thought–ermkay, maybe not? Boy, my “spidey sense” must be off…lol. I was actually really disappointed when it was implied that Beth had ended up in bed with Cleo but then it was super glossed-over in the aftermath. (And though it isn’t applicable to this story, trans rep–ugh, don’t get me started, we are SO LACKING in trans rep/acceptance!) Especially F/F and/or ace/aro rep! Bisexual as well. And please, don’t apologize! We *all* need representation.
